This was done for Challenge #9 - Scenes and Sequences @ picspammy.
This is probably one of my favorite scenes from Psych. To me, it's a beautiful example of well-written sexual tension. But it's James Roday and Maggie Lawson who make this scene as wonderful as it is. All the action in this scene is in their faces, and I tried to capture the subtlety of their acting. :)
JULIET. Shawn. Look, I really screwed up today, and I just wanna say thank you for being there for me. It really meant a lot.
SHAWN. It was a mistake. (steps closer to her and rests his hand on her shoulder) That's...what friends are for.
JULIET. (looks down) Yeah, well, it's been a long day.
SHAWN. Well, I guess you have to get home and feed your parrot.
JULIET. Shawn, I don't have a parrot.
SHAWN. Well, in that case. (SHAWN leans in as if to kiss JULIET, stopping just before her lips)
JULIET. (inhales sharply) Shawn, what are you doing?
SHAWN. (whispering) Nothing.
JULIET. Really? Because if you're doing what it looks like you're doing, it's gonna be one of those things we were just talking about.
SHAWN. What's that?
JULIET. A mistake.
SHAWN. I agree, but that's clearly not what we're doing.
JULIET. (nods) Okay. Really? What do you say that we're doing?
SHAWN. I call it... (looks up, thinks) ...very close talking.
JULIET. Ah, I see. (looks down) Do you have anything else to say?
SHAWN. (purses his lips so they are brushing her top lip) Mmm... (shakes his head gently) No.
(JULIET smiles at him)
SHAWN. No, I think I'm good for now.
(They separate and Shawn backs away.)
JULIET. Well, good night.
SHAWN. 'Night, detective.
